My name is Matthew Read and I love reading (as indicated by my last name). Anyway, more specifically I love reading the classics and so, knowing this, my thoughtful wife has bought me the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die and now I am attempting to read every single last one.

To monitor my progress and keep track of which ones I have read, which I have loved and which I have loathed, I have decided to do a blog review of each one as I read them.

By my calculations, if I read and review 1 a week, every week, it should take me around 19 years to finish the list and this blog (by which time I will be 41). So if you are going to keep track with me get ready for a long journey!

I would love to hear all your comments on any and all of my reviews. The enjoyment of books is very subjective and so I am sure there will be some fine debates on the books I enjoy and despise from the list.
